The Pantry CalculatorsCompanion to The Dry Mix Pantry Cookbook
The Pantry Calculators
Scale any mix in the book to the jar you actually own, work out what a batch costs at your grocery prices, know when each jar is past its best, and pick the right jar before you start.
Every number here is read straight out of the book, so the two can never disagree. Free, no sign-up, and it keeps working with no signal once you have opened it once.
Put it on your phoneIt installs like an app: an icon on your home screen, and it opens
full screen and works with no signal.
Add it to your home screen
Tap the Share button at the bottom of Safari (the square with an arrow).
Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
Tap Add. The icon appears with your other apps.
Safari does not allow a one-tap install, so this is the way on iPhone and iPad.
Scale a batch to your jar
Pick a mix and the jar you have. Every quantity is recalculated so the batch fills it.
What it costs you
The book uses US store-brand averages. Put in what you actually pay and every number below follows.
Your prices
Change only what you know. Anything you leave alone keeps the book's figure.
Is this jar still good?
The clock on a dry mix is set by the fastest-spoiling thing in it, never by the flour.
Which jar do I need?
Dry mixes settle. These sizes leave room to shake the jar without wearing it.
